The jade plant is a green plant loved by many flower growers, with thick, plump leaves that are as smooth and clean as green jade, and the plant gives people a sense of vigorous, simple, ancient-looking branches. In summer and autumn, flowers bloom in abundance, with white flowers dotted among the green jade leaves, very elegant and distinctive.

For people who like jade plants, they also quite like growing and propagating new plants themselves. Today Hua'er also introduces to everyone a little trick for jade plant propagation; treated this way, you need not worry about it not rooting, and one leaf is one potted tree.

Leaf cuttings propagation of the jade plant:

Choose healthy, thick old leaves, and they must have the leaf base. Before cuttings, air-dry them for about 10 hours, until the sap is slightly dry and a transparent film has formed over the wound.

Prepare a sand bed, insert the leaves directly at a slant into the sand bed, with the depth controlled at 1/4-1/3, keep the sand bed moist, and never let water accumulate. In about half a month, roots will begin to grow.

If you want the leaves to root faster, you can use willow branch water to promote rooting, because willow branches contain a large amount of salicylic acid, willow acid, etc., which can shorten the rooting time and also help new shoots grow, speeding up growth.

The specific method: collect a few healthy new willow branches, crush them, add clean water and soak them; do not add too much clean water. After one day, it is ready to use. Take the supernatant and dilute it 5-10 times, and water it over the sand bed after it dries. Cared for this way for 7-10 days, the leaves will grow big white roots, and new shoots will also emerge.

When the root system has grown to 3-5 cm long and new shoots have emerged, it can be transplanted into a pot for care.

When potting up, choose a purple clay pot with good drainage and air permeability, and place a layer of coarse-grained substrate or ceramic granules, broken tile pieces, etc. at the bottom of the pot, then add a layer of base fertilizer on top, which can be crushed bone scraps, crushed eggshells, etc., with the thickness controlled at 2-4 cm, and then continue to add growing medium. The growing medium can use leaf mold as the base soil, then mix in some coarse sand, plant ash, and bone meal, and stir evenly. When the potting soil is 7-8 parts full, it is ready for planting. Dig an inverted triangle in the middle, plant the plant into it, water thoroughly once after potting, then place it in a cool and fairly bright environment for care. Once the plant has recovered, it can be moved to a place with ample sunlight for normal care.
