Requirements for storing grain seeds

Do not let grain seeds get damp. The place where grain seeds are stored should be ventilated and dry. Burlap sacks, cloth bags, and the like used to hold grain seeds should not be placed directly on the ground; they should be raised up or placed directly in a high place.

Do not let grain seeds heat up. Before storage, grain seeds should be winnowed and sun-dried, and dried as much as possible to reduce their moisture content. The warehouse or room where seeds are stored should maintain a suitable room temperature; sudden changes from cold to hot are all harmful to grain seeds, so the temperature should be kept at a suitable room temperature as much as possible.

Do not fumigate grain seeds. Fumigation has a toxic and harmful effect on grain seeds and will affect the seed germination rate, which will in turn affect production.

Do not store grain seeds in plastic bags. Plastic bags have poor air permeability, and storing grain seeds in plastic bags will affect the respiration of the grain seeds, thereby reducing the quality of the grain seeds. If the seeds have a relatively high moisture content, this will accelerate the deterioration of the grain seeds.

Do not store grain seeds together with pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and the like. Some pesticides and chemical fertilizers are highly volatile, and storing them together with grain seeds will harm the grain seeds and affect the germination rate. If they need to be placed in the same room, they should also be isolated.
