What are the methods for controlling rice pests in summer?

The high temperature and high humidity in summer create favorable conditions for pest reproduction, making it a season when pests breed and cause damage frequently, so special attention must be paid to preventing pest damage to rice during this season. Here are several methods for preventing pests in rice:
Fumigation insecticide method
1. Use aluminum phosphide fumigation to kill insects. If the amount of infested rice is relatively large, use a grain-specific aluminum phosphide fumigation insecticide for the treatment, which can completely eliminate the pests.
2. Use zinc phosphide plus acetic acid for fumigation. On a balcony or in an unused room (note: keep away from people and livestock), place the infested rice together with its bag into a well-sealed plastic bag, then put a cup or bowl inside the bag containing 50 grams of vinegar; if the grain does not exceed 500 kilograms, wrap 1 gram of zinc phosphide in paper and put it into the cup or bowl containing the vinegar, without stirring, and immediately seal the bag opening for fumigation. Seal for 5-10 days, and all the pests inside will be killed. After that, ventilate for 3 days, take out the vinegar water and residue and dispose of them, and the rice can be eaten normally after ventilation.
Sun-drying method
In summer, first sun-dry a concrete drying platform in the sun until it reaches above 50°C, then spread the infested rice thinly on the platform for sun-drying; the pests and eggs die quickly under the high temperature. However, the broken rate of rice increases greatly after sun-drying, and the taste is poor.
Re-milling and sieving method
Use a rice mill to re-mill and sieve the infested rice, which can remove all pests on the surface of the grains and some pests and eggs inside the grains. It can effectively prevent pest damage to rice within two to three months. This is the safest and most environmentally friendly method among the above methods.
