How to raise pregnant sows? These feeding points must be mastered

Feeding points for pregnant sows

Feeding management during sow pregnancy is very critical. The daily ration should be reasonably formulated according to the nutritional and physiological characteristics of the sow at each stage of pregnancy and in light of actual conditions. Management can be strengthened from the following aspects.

First, the sow's diet must have a certain volume and must contain a certain amount of green and coarse feed, so that the sow feels full after eating and the fetus is not compressed. More importantly, green and coarse feed is beneficial to embryonic development. However, after 3 months of pregnancy, the amount of green and coarse feed should be appropriately restricted, otherwise compression of the fetus can easily cause miscarriage.

Second, pregnant sows in better body condition should be raised under restricted feeding, limiting feed intake as much as possible to control body weight and save feeding costs.

Third, pregnant sows should exercise appropriately in the middle and late stages of pregnancy, which is beneficial for enhancing physical condition and fetal development. Exercise should be stopped one week before farrowing.

Fourth, carry out daily management well to prevent miscarriage: be gentle with pregnant sows, avoid startling them or hitting and scolding them, and do not feed moldy, spoiled or deteriorated feed.

Fifth, deworm properly. Parasites can cause a decline in appetite in pregnant sows, leading to emaciation. Some sows, even if their appetite does not decline, will show a situation of "eating but not gaining." About 15 days before farrowing, deworming must be carried out once, which can eliminate the effects of chronic wasting diseases. Hu Jiniu
