How to manage chives in winter? These management methods are essential to master
When winter arrives and the weather turns colder, let the plants die back naturally in the field so that nutrients fully flow back to the roots.
Clear away the withered grass in the field; if the ground has already frozen, it can be appropriately covered to thaw it. Remove the soil between the rows, open furrows and pull out the small bulbs for cold stimulation and sunlight exposure to break dormancy. After 3~5 days, when the chive roots change color, spread fine soil and mixed fertilizer, rake it level, and irrigate once with "Genshitong + insecticide" to control pests.
Water thoroughly, set up 1 windbreak for every 2 beds, insert arched bamboo strips over the beds, and cover them with film.
Cover with straw mats to increase and maintain temperature, keeping it at 20°C~25°C during the day. After the plants have grown, ventilate to reduce humidity and prevent disease. On cloudy days, as long as the temperature inside the beds does not drop, uncover the straw mats to let the chives receive diffused light.
Spray Zhuangjingling for vegetables at the appropriate time to promote thick stems, plump leaves, fresh tender leaf color, and lush plant growth, with a rich natural taste. At the same time, it can enhance resistance to disasters, reduce the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and lower residual toxicity.
After 30~40 days of covering, harvest the first crop. Immediately after harvesting, spray the ecological agent Xin Gaozhi Mo to prevent infection by pathogens. When the seedlings grow to 5~10 cm, apply urea once, water once, and then cover again. The second crop can be harvested 25 days after the first crop, and the third crop can be harvested 30~35 days after the second crop. After the weather turns warm, remove the covering promptly.
