Precautions for raising ducks in winter

Raising ducks scientifically in winter can reduce the occurrence of infectious diseases as well as poisoning and accidents. Ducks raised in pens should be supplied with sufficient and complete various nutrients, especially the nutrients necessary for bone and feather growth. The feed formula for growing ducks should be formulated as appropriate according to the laws of growth and development, and according to different breeds and rearing purposes, appropriate restricted feeding should be adopted, the proportion of green and coarse feed should be increased, and animal feed should be added in an appropriate amount to promote feed digestion and absorption.

During the growing period, each duck requires about 3 kg of compound feed, fed 6 times per day and night, with the interval between each feeding kept as equal as possible. Concentrate feed is mostly given as mash mixed with water, and clean drinking water must be kept available at all times. When raising in pens, in terms of management, attention should be paid to maintaining a reasonable density according to the season and the individual size of the growing ducks. In addition, attention should be paid to appropriately strengthening exercise to promote bone and muscle growth, prevent excessive fatness, and build up physical fitness. The method is to drive them at fixed times each day within the pen to make them move in circles, 23 minutes each time, 4 times a day, and they can also be driven to move in the pen's exercise yard or a nearby place. During the growing period, lighting each day must be guaranteed for 3 hours, and weak light should always be maintained at night, with an intensity of 3 watts per meter being appropriate; if there is a power outage, candlelight should be supplemented in a timely manner.
