New tricks for fattening pigs: sharing practical fattening methods
Feeding copper
Adding the trace element copper during the fattening period of meat pigs can significantly increase the pigs' body weight and inhibit the attack of certain pathogens on the pigs, ensuring healthy growth of the pigs. In feed mixed with antibiotics, if an appropriate amount of copper is also added, the daily weight gain of pigs can be increased by 6.7 percent, and the feed utilization rate can be increased by 2 percent to 5 percent.
Moving the pigs
Tests show that changing pens for fattening pigs can increase their appetite, help them put on more fat, and speed up growth. However, the pens should not be changed too frequently; once a month is appropriate. The size and form of the pens should be basically the same. Pigs in each group should not be swapped arbitrarily or mixed with new pigs, otherwise the group will feel uneasy and may even bite one another's heads.
Feeding vitamins
Starting from the third day after the piglets are weaned, add 200 mg of vitamin E and 400 g of carrots to the sow's feed. When the sow comes into heat, reduce the amount of these two additives by 50 percent, and continue feeding until 21 days after conception. Using this method can increase the number of piglets born per litter by 21.9 percent, and both the sow and piglets will be strong, with a high piglet survival rate.
Feeding baking soda
Adding baking soda to pig feed that lacks lysine can make up for the lysine deficiency and help the digestion and absorption of crude fiber, so that pigs gain more meat and put on weight faster.
Feeding saccharin
Feeding an appropriate amount of saccharin to pigs gives good weight-gain results. The method is: add 0.05 g of saccharin per kilogram of compound feed; when feeding, first dissolve the saccharin in water and then mix it into the feed. This can increase the pigs' feed intake, and the daily weight gain can be raised by 7 percent. For every 100 kg of live pig weight gained, feed consumption and cost decrease by 4.8 percent and 3.5 percent respectively.
Feeding citric acid
Adding citric acid to pig feed can increase the feed's palatability, improve the pigs' ability to digest and absorb nutrients, and raise the feed conversion rate. Adding 30 g of citric acid per kilogram of feed can raise the pigs' daily weight gain from 189 g to 216 g. This method is most suitable for feeding weaned pigs weighing 5 to 10 kg.
Feeding calcium formate
Adding 1.5 g of calcium formate to the feed in the first few weeks after piglets are weaned can increase the piglets' growth rate by more than 12 percent, raise the feed conversion rate by 4 percent, and reduce the incidence of disease in piglets.
Feeding oxygenated soda water
Feeding weaned piglets oxygenated soda water, once every 5 days, can increase the piglets' daily weight gain by 200 to 250 g. Oxygenated soda water is ordinary drinking water with a certain proportion of oxygen added, usually 1 L of oxygen injected into 1 L of water. If some additives such as growth promoters are added to the soda water, the effect is even better. Song Liling
