The Pomelo Flower Art Festival in Xihu Township, Miaoli County opens on April 2

The Pomelo Flower Art Festival in Xihu Township, Miaoli County will be held on April 2 and 3. In addition to a rich lineup of wonderful arts and cultural performances and hiking activities, it will also offer a "Fragrant Pomelo Flower Banquet" featuring local ingredients, a "Tea Ceremony Feast," and "Pomelo Flower Lunch Boxes." Visitors from across the country are welcome to stroll through Xihu Township, admire the pomelo flowers, and taste Hakka cuisine and tea snacks while enjoying the idyllic rural scenery at ease.

To tie in with the opening of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Miaoli Station, the organizing Xihu Township Office is providing convenient transfer services for visitors. During the event, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., free shuttle buses will run between the THSR Miaoli Station, the Taiwan Railways Miaoli Railway Station, and the event venue. With the theme "See the Pomelo Flowers Bloom Again, Stroll Through Xihu Township," the event will feature song and dance performances by 4 local community groups, as well as an agricultural specialty products exhibition, parent-child DIY activities, and a photography exhibition.

For the hiking activity held at Pomelo Mountain in the Hudong Leisure Agriculture Area, stamp collection cards will be distributed at the registration desk at the Xiaowo trailhead. At 3 relay stations, "Jinlai Pavilion," "Haishui Pavilion," and "Dawo Parking Lot," services such as stamp collection and tea and water supplies will be provided. Hikers who collect all 3 stamps can redeem a NT$50 cash voucher at the service desk of the Hudong Multipurpose Activity Center.

On April 2 and 3 at noon, the "Fragrant Pomelo Flower Banquet" will be held at the Hudong Multipurpose Activity Center. Gold-medal Hakka chef Liu Juying has been hired to prepare dishes incorporating local ingredients, including pomelo-scented vegetable dumplings, Sihu braised chicken, stir-fried three delicacies with pomelo flowers, pomelo-scented snowflake melon soup, and the classic Hakka dish "four simmered and four stir-fried." On April 2, a "Tea Ceremony Feast" will also be held on Pomelo Mountain, allowing visitors to admire the pomelo flowers while tasting delicious pomelo flower tea snacks.
