Tainan City's dairy industry wins the triple crown at the "High-Fertility Ten-Ton Dairy Cow Evaluation"

In the 2015 National Livestock Farm Ten-Ton Cow Evaluation, Tainan City had 30 households with 461 head selected as Ten-Ton Cows (305-day total milk production above 12 metric tons, milk protein above 3.5%, milk yield breeding value above 350 kg, and Grade A milk for six consecutive months), of which 10 households with 34 head were selected as High-Fertility Ten-Ton Cows (Ten-Ton Cows that also possess characteristics such as high fertility, easy calving, and easy conception), ranking first in the nation!

In this evaluation, Tainan City swept the champion, runner-up, and third-place titles in the Summer Milk Evaluation category for Ten-Ton Cows, winning the triple crown, which clearly shows that the breeding and management techniques of Tainan City's dairy farmers have improved substantially, breaking through the long-standing bottleneck of insufficient summer milk production and demonstrating the solid soft power of dairy farmers.

The Livestock Research Institute stated: In the 1970s, the national average daily milk yield of dairy cows was 14 kg, and it has now reached more than 23 kg, proving that the dairy industry is progressing rapidly. The number of Ten-Ton Cow households is gradually increasing each year, which is an important milestone for the domestic dairy industry and also the fruitful result of the joint efforts of industry, government, academia, and research sectors.

In addition, in the future the Livestock Research Institute will, through the National Dairy Association, guide the dairy industry toward Dairy Industry Productivity 4.0 technology, develop intelligent industry automation, and establish monitoring systems for milking, feeding, and cleaning management. It is expected to begin promotion next year (ROC year 106). It is hoped that this will make dairy farming less labor-intensive, improve efficiency, and increase dairy farmers' income.
