How to keep agricultural machinery warm and prevent freezing in winter

In winter, the severe cold brings a lot of inconvenience to the use and maintenance of agricultural machinery. The engine is not only difficult to start, but also consumes more fuel and is highly prone to freezing, so effective insulation and freeze protection become the key to improving the efficiency of agricultural machinery use in the severe cold season.

????1. Prevent machine parts from freezing and cracking

1. After a day's work, run the engine at low throttle for a few minutes, then shut it off and drain the cooling water after the machine temperature has dropped somewhat. Note that you must not work at full load and high throttle, and you must not shut off the engine suddenly and drain the water immediately, so as to prevent the block from cracking due to sudden cooling. When draining water, open the radiator cap and all drain switches, and be sure to drain it completely. Not only in winter, but also in late autumn, early spring and when a cold wave arrives, water must be drained whenever the temperature falls below 5°C.

2. In the severe cold season, antifreeze should be added to the cooling water.

3. Regularly drain the water from the fuel tank, and strictly prevent water from mixing into the diesel, so as to avoid the diesel freezing.

4. Appropriately increase the specific gravity of the battery electrolyte (to 1.28-1.31), and use supplementary charging to keep the battery in a fully charged state, so that the battery does not lose too much capacity due to low temperature and does not crack the battery case from freezing.

????2. Strengthen the insulation of the machine body

1. Tractors and other agricultural machinery should be parked in a garage as much as possible to prevent erosion by rain and snow and freezing.

2. Preheating is required before starting the engine. The methods are: pour hot water of about 60°C into the cooling system, wait a moment, drain it and then add hot water again, until the machine temperature reaches above 40°C before starting; drain the lubricating oil, heat it in a water bath and then pour it back into the machine (note that an open flame must not be used to directly heat the oil pan); use an electric flame preheater for a short time, etc.

3. Cover the engine with an insulation curtain and insulation cover, and if necessary, use cardboard in front of the radiator to block the incoming wind.

4. Some engines are equipped with an oil radiator; the changeover switch should be turned to the "winter" position so that the oil does not flow through the oil radiator.
