How to increase greenhouse cucumber yield? Master these four methods
Foliar feeding
Spraying a 0.3% urea solution at the seedling stage can promote early seedling growth. You can also spray a 0.5% ferrous sulfate solution to promote sturdy seedlings and make the leaves dark green. Spraying a 0.2% boric acid solution at the 7-leaf stage can preserve flowers and fruits; when a large number of cucumbers are setting, spraying a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution and a 0.5% urea solution to supplement nutrients can preserve the cucumbers and increase yield.
Hand pollination
After the cucumber flowers open, pollinate by hand: aim the picked male flower stamen at the stigma of the female flower and gently dab it a few times. This can inhibit flower drop and fruit abortion, improve the fruit-setting rate, and increase cucumber yield.
Manual emasculation
During the peak fruiting period, emasculate once every five days, keeping 5%-10% of the male flowers. In the early fruiting stage, the interval for emasculation can be longer, once every 6-7 days. Emasculating cucumbers can reduce nutrient consumption, promote plant growth, and increase yield.
Pinching
For weak-growing side vines, pinch them after the fruit sets, which can increase the number of fruit-bearing vines and raise yield. Zhang Yu
