Three Methods for Pollution-Free Pest Control in Vegetables

1. Wood ash pest control method. Wood ash is an important farmyard manure, rich in potassium and other minerals, and has an excellent pest control effect. It can be used to control onion flies, root maggots, aphids, scarab beetles, and others. First, soil application: use 30-40 kg of wood ash per mu, preferably applied in the planting furrow, then cover with soil after sowing or transplanting, which can control root-zone pests. Second, direct dusting: grind the wood ash and spray it on the damaged parts of the plants in the morning when the dew has not yet dried, using 1-2 kg of wood ash per mu. Third, spraying wood ash liquid: soak 3 kg of wood ash in 10 kg of water for 3 days, filter out the residue, and spray the wood ash extract, with a spray volume of 50 kg per mu.

2. Tobacco pest control method. Tobacco is mainly used to control aphids, stink bugs, fly maggots, and others. Before preparation, weigh waste tobacco and water at a ratio of 1:40. Tear the tobacco leaves into pieces and soak them in 10 parts of boiling water, covering the container. When the water temperature drops to about 20°C, rub the soaked tobacco leaves until no strong juice remains, then remove the leaves and put them into another 10 parts of water to continue rubbing. After 4 rounds of changing water and rubbing, filter out the residue and remove the leaves. Mix all the tobacco juice together for field pest control, spraying about 50 kg per mu.

3. Castor leaf pest control method. Castor leaves have a good insecticidal effect, and after spraying they also serve as an additional organic fertilizer for crops. This method can effectively control various pests of vegetables such as aphids, cabbage caterpillars, fly maggots, cutworms, scarab beetles, and diamondback moths. You can mash castor leaves to extract juice and add 3-5 times water, soak for 12 hours, and spray on the leaf surface. You can also dry castor leaves in the sun, grind them into powder, and mix with soil for application. You can also add 5 times water to castor bean oil, rub and soak for 12 hours. When applying, choose a sunny evening to spray, using 20-40 kg of liquid per mu, and note that it must be used immediately after mixing. Zhou Yuzhi
