Yunlin County Builds an Industry-Friendly Environment; Subsidies for Fishermen's Facilities Reach Over 100 Million
In view of the effects of climate change in recent years, with hydrological anomalies and the scale of disasters both tending to intensify, the Yunlin County Government, in order to build a more farming-friendly industrial environment, has planned subsidy policies targeting the actual needs of fishermen and the industry, subsidizing fishermen for raising the embankments of fish ponds and installing recirculating water facilities, fishery materials and equipment and facilities, etc., with subsidy amounts reaching over 100 million yuan, benefiting local fishermen.
County Magistrate Lee Chin-yung stated that, in addition to the county government's response to the Fisheries Agency of the Council of Agriculture's subsidies for fishermen to "raise fish pond embankments" and install "recirculating aquaculture facilities," thereby increasing their ability to respond to hydrological changes, in the 105th year of the Republic of China (2016) it further allocated 30 million yuan from the Agricultural Stabilization Fund to subsidize fishermen in purchasing fishery equipment and facilities, enhancing the momentum of the industry.
The Fisheries Agency of the Executive Yuan's Council of Agriculture, for existing fish ponds with valid aquaculture fishery registration certificates in the aquaculture fishery production zones and fish pond concentration zones under the jurisdiction of 7 counties and cities including Yunlin County, handles subsidies for measures such as "raising embankments" and "installing recirculating aquaculture facilities," subsidizing 1/2 according to the quantity actually constructed by grade, with each household eligible for subsidies ranging from a maximum of 240,000 to 480,000 yuan.
The "Recirculating Aquaculture Facility Subsidy Standards" subsidize outdoor recirculating aquaculture facilities and equipment, with 1/3 of the actual construction quantity subsidized, up to a maximum of 170,000 yuan per hectare and a maximum of 500,000 yuan per household; for indoor automated recirculating aquaculture facilities and equipment, 1/4 of the actual construction quantity is subsidized, with a maximum of 1 million yuan per household.
In addition, in the 105th year of the Republic of China (2016), the county government allocated a budget of 30 million yuan to increase subsidy amounts and benefit more people; from the 101st to the 103rd year of the Republic of China (2012 to 2014), a total of 2,341 households were subsidized, with subsidy amounts reaching 213.24 million yuan.
