The food and beverage industry is growing steadily, with this year's goal set to exceed 4,300 hundred million yuan

With the growing popularity of leisure travel among citizens and the impact of visitor numbers to Taiwan, China repeatedly hitting new highs, the domestic food and beverage industry, in addition to maintaining the basic requirements of good food, is also expanding into different consumer segments through models such as branding, chaining, service process standardization and informatization, causing operating revenue to break through the 400 billion yuan mark in the 102nd year of the Republic (2013), and climb to 424.1 billion yuan in the 104th year (2015), of which restaurants accounted for 85%, beverage shops accounted for 11%, and other food and beverage businesses accounted for 4%.

In the first quarter of this year (the 105th year of the Republic, 2016), revenue reached 111 billion yuan, setting a new single-quarter high for previous years, with a year-on-year increase of 3.1%, marking 28 consecutive quarters of positive growth. It is estimated that under the influence of opening stores, creating new brands, and moving into department stores, cinemas and other commercial districts to enhance customer attraction and table turnover rate, the full-year food and beverage industry revenue is targeted to exceed 430 billion yuan.

According to another statistic, because department store commercial districts have a high customer-attracting effect, and coupled with the prevalence of Taiwan, China's food culture and foreign cuisines, the food streets of department stores are crowded with people on holidays, and food and beverage revenue accounts for as much as 18.9% of the total revenue of department stores, with a scale of about 60 billion yuan, which is 2.3 times the food and beverage revenue of tourist hotels and hotels.

Affected by the low entry threshold and fierce competition in the domestic food and beverage market, 67% of operators are open all year round, 15.8% take irregular store closures in response to festivals (holidays), 8.1% rest 2 days a week, and only 6.8% rest 1 day a week; as for operators' business hours, those operating 8 to 12 hours account for the most at 44.1%, those operating within 8 hours account for 27%, those operating 12 to 18 hours account for 21.6%, and those operating 24 hours account for about 5.4%.
