What are the key points for watering vegetables in a greenhouse?
Greenhouse vegetable cultivation is the growing of vegetables under plastic film-covered greenhouses, which means artificially creating a suitable ecological environment, adjusting the vegetable production season, regulating market demand, and promoting high-quality and high-yield vegetables. It is one of the effective means of increasing farmers' income. Reasonable watering is an important measure to ensure the healthy growth of greenhouse vegetables and increase yield. The following four strategies should be adopted for watering greenhouse vegetables:
First, watering: and it should not be too heavy. At low temperatures, evaporation from vegetables in the greenhouse is slow, and water demand decreases accordingly, so the amount of watering should be small and the interval should be appropriately longer. Never use flood irrigation; irrigation or spraying is preferable, so as to avoid root rot of vegetables caused by low temperature and high humidity. In the first two days after watering, humidity in the greenhouse tends to increase, so reasonable ventilation to reduce humidity should be noted to prevent induced diseases. Ventilation is generally best at noon when the temperature is relatively high.
Second, appropriate watering time: greenhouse vegetables should be watered at a suitable time chosen according to the climate characteristics of the season.
Third, water flexibly according to the weather: according to weather conditions, follow the principle of "water appropriately more on sunny days, water less or not at all on cloudy days, and never water on windy and snowy days." When the weather turns from sunny to cloudy, the amount of water should gradually decrease and the interval should be appropriately lengthened; when it turns from cloudy to sunny, the amount of water should go from small to large, and the interval should correspondingly change from long to short.
Fourth, watering should be targeted: temperatures in different parts of the greenhouse differ greatly, so the amount of watering should also differ. In the southern part of the greenhouse and places close to heat sources such as stoves and flues, soil moisture and evaporation near them are greater, so the amount of watering can be appropriately larger; on the east and west sides and in the northern part of the greenhouse, temperatures are lower and sunshine duration is also shorter, so the amount of watering should be appropriately smaller.
