Encouraging Young People to Take Up Farming: Yunlin County Agriculture Department Holds Campus Symposium on the Livestock and Poultry Industry

To help students in the Livestock Health Division of agricultural schools and in agriculture-related technical departments better understand the development of the livestock and poultry industry and employment conditions, the Yunlin County Government and National Huwei Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School (hereinafter referred to as Huwei Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School) cooperated for the first time to organize a campus symposium on the livestock and poultry industry. It was held on the afternoon of the 23rd at Huwei Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School, bringing the local livestock and poultry industry into the campus for face-to-face discussions with students, providing an overview of industry development and current operations as a reference for future employment choices.

Chang Shih-chung, Director-General of the Yunlin County Agriculture Department, said that Yunlin County is a major livestock county, with livestock and poultry breeding and processing industries concentrated there. In response to future livestock and poultry industry development and the shortage of livestock manpower, and in order to retain local livestock talent, the department cooperated with Huwei Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School to hold a campus symposium on the livestock and poultry industry, inviting Yuanchang Poultry Production Cooperative, CP Group, Liruei Livestock, Taichuan Company, and Jimei Livestock Farm and other livestock and poultry businesses into the campus, letting students in related departments know the current development, industry needs, and manpower needs of the livestock and poultry industry, and helping to match schools with industry contacts, which helps students understand the industry, cultivates livestock and poultry industry manpower, and reduces labor shortages.

Director Wu of Huwei Agricultural and Industrial Vocational High School expressed gratitude for the participation of the livestock and poultry industry. The students on site responded enthusiastically, and it is hoped that through this event, agricultural school students facing employment or further study can gain a deeper understanding of Yunlin County's livestock and poultry industry.

The livestock and poultry businesses invited to participate in this symposium all gave it positive recognition. Through face-to-face communication with future livestock talent, they let students understand the industry's current development and prospects, and also let the industry know students' needs. In the future, the industry will also cooperate more with schools and the county government, providing internship or employment opportunities, working hard to retain talent.
