New Taipei City and EVA Air Join Hands Again to Promote New Taipei to Korean Travelers

The renowned Korean TV show "Grandpas Over Flowers" was a huge hit after airing locally, causing Korean visitor numbers to Taiwan to grow explosively. Seeing its limitless market potential, the New Taipei City Government and EVA Air announced a partnership to launch 10 major charm-themed itineraries, packaged with the "Fly on the Hello Kitty Jet and experience New Taipei's unique charm!" flight-plus-hotel independent travel product, priced from NT$10,000 before tax for 4 days and 3 nights, with the first 5,000 purchasers receiving a bonus gift pack worth more than NT$10,000, which will attract more Korean travelers to visit New Taipei City.

The New Taipei City Government and EVA Air are partnering for the first time this year to go to South Korea, and will hold a tourism promotion event in Seoul on June 7 to officially unveil the great-value discount travel product. They will also take part in the "2016 Hana Tour Show" held from June 9 to 12 at KINTEX International Exhibition Center in Seoul, promoting the beauty of New Taipei City face to face with the Korean public.

Chen Kuo-chun, Director-General of the New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Department, said that the New Taipei City Government places great importance on overseas tourism promotion. In response to the rising number of Korean travelers year after year, it has set up foreign-language signs at popular attractions and important transportation hubs, such as Ruifang Station, Jiufen Old Street and Pingxi, creating a friendly tourism environment, and has produced multilingual brochures and a tourism website, making it more convenient for Korean travelers visiting Taiwan and helping them better understand the historical background and stories of each attraction.

EVA Air spokesperson Ko Chin-cheng said that since 2015, the number of EVA Air flights on South Korea routes has continued to grow, and EVA Air's daily Hello Kitty painted aircraft - the Apple Jet - flying to Seoul (Incheon) is especially attractive to the Korean public with its Hello Kitty-themed meals and various service items on board. Such a convenient and fun flight experience, combined with New Taipei City's rich natural and cultural resources, will surely push New Taipei City step by step toward becoming the best travel destination in the hearts of Koreans, creating a win-win for both sides!

In addition, starting from the perspective of meeting the needs of independent travelers, it integrates tourism industry resources including telecommunications, transportation, souvenirs, 7 well-known attractions, 6 museums and 15 tourist factories, and gives away a gift pack with a total value of more than NT$10,000. The gift pack generously offers a free tour of the Ben Shan Wu Keng Tunnel at the Gold Museum, Yehliu Geopark, and a box of pineapple cakes, plus the essential 5-day mobile internet from Chunghwa Telecom for independent travelers, allowing travelers to share their thoughts, upload photos and navigate at any time, and combines with Taiwan Trip to provide a NT$300 discount voucher for chartered cars, enabling travelers to visit New Taipei City's secret attractions in a more in-depth and flexible way. It has also specially joined hands with Carrefour to offer a NT$30 discount on Taiwanese specialty products at special prices, offering outstanding value for money!
