Methods and Technical Key Points for Regulating the Goose Breeding Season
1. Suitable regions: goose breeds raised in all provinces across the country
2. Technical overview: Use light to regulate the goose breeding season, so that geese can begin laying in any season of the year and
greatly improve egg-laying and reproductive performance. Generally, in winter, light is extended to stop production, and then in summer, light is shortened to bring breeder geese into laying and reproduction, while also improving egg-laying performance. By regulating the breeding season of breeder geese, the production season of meat geese is adjusted.
3. Technical key points:
(1) Build breeder goose houses that can block outside light, so that outside light is blocked off while normal ventilation is still possible.
(2) In winter, extend light to 18 hours per day to stop production and induce molting, putting the geese into a state of reproductive adjustment; after two months, shorten light to 11 hours per day to restart reproductive activity, finally bringing them into a reproductive state and normal egg laying.
(3) For breeder geese used for only one year, generally during the rearing period, select and retain goslings hatched in May-June, give them long light of 18 hours per day during the rearing period, then after 2-3 months shorten the light, so that they enter normal reproductive egg-laying in spring and summer, continuing until the end of the following year.
(4) Under egg-laying conditions, according to the different egg-laying and brooding stages, appropriately adjust the quantity and quality of feed supplied, to promote the greatest possible improvement in egg-laying performance. Zheng Fei
