Five points to note when raising meat geese

1. Preparation for brooding

Half a month before introducing the goslings, thoroughly disinfect the goose house and rearing ground; you can use 10% quicklime water or 5% bleaching powder solution for alternating disinfection. Spray the rearing equipment with disinfectant solution according to the specified requirements, then rinse clean with fresh water. Before use, place insulation items in the sun for 1-2 hours.

2. Temperature and humidity

Newly hatched goslings have sparse down and poor body temperature regulation, so the temperature and humidity inside the shed must be kept relatively stable. The suitable temperature and humidity for a brooding house are: 1-2 days of age, 28-29°C, relative humidity 60-65%; 3-6 days of age, 26-28°C, relative humidity 60-65%; 7-14 days of age, 23-25°C, relative humidity about 65%; 15-20 days of age, 19-22°C, relative humidity 65-70%; after 21 days of age, they can gradually be weaned off heat.

3. Stocking density

For group rearing of goslings, 500-600 birds per group is suitable. According to the body size and growth of the goslings, continuously adjust the stocking density. Generally, for small and medium-sized geese within 7 days of age, raise 18-25 birds per sq m; at 7-15 days of age, raise 12-15 birds; at 15-21 days of age, raise 7-10 birds.

4. Feeding management

Within 12-24 hours after hatching, goslings should first drink water, then start eating. Supply water 5-7 times a day, and it is best to add 1 gram of multivitamins per kilogram of drinking water to help cleanse the digestive tract, expel meconium, and provide nutrition. Newly started goslings have weak digestive ability, so the feed can be half-cooked rice, made so that it is raw but not hard, cooked but not sticky, and in granular form. Remove it as soon as it is served; wash it with warm boiled water until the rice is not sticky, and feed 6-8 times a day; it is best to add one feeding at night, and feeding until 60-70% full is enough. Once goslings start eating, they can be fed fresh tender green feed, with green feed provided daily without interruption, to promote digestion and increase nutrition. The brooding room must be kept clean, dry, and well ventilated. On clear, warm days, the goslings can be let outside for activity 2-3 times, half an hour each time. Usually, open the doors and windows of the brooding room to remove ammonia gas, so that the air in the brooding room is fresh and the goslings grow healthily.
