How to ensure normal vegetable growth on hazy days
Hazy weather has a relatively large impact on vegetable production: on the one hand, if the concentration of dust particles in the haze is too high, it will overload the plants, thereby affecting their respiration. On the other hand, during hazy weather, air circulation is poor, and sunlight is blocked at the same time, thereby affecting the plants' photosynthesis. The negative impact is especially great on protected vegetable production; during hazy weather, the air temperature and soil temperature inside the greenhouse are relatively low, which greatly affects vegetable growth, and at the same time the humidity inside the greenhouse is relatively high, making diseases prone to occur. Farmers can take measures from the following aspects to reduce the impact of hazy weather on protected vegetables.
1. Keep the greenhouse film clean, promptly remove water droplets inside the film, and fully maintain the light transmittance of the greenhouse film.
2. Make full use of reflected light through measures such as laying reflective film on the ground, adding reflective film to the walls, and coating the inner walls and column surfaces white. Where conditions permit, incandescent lamps can be hung inside the greenhouse for artificial supplemental lighting.
3. Improve the light conditions among the vegetable population through comprehensive agricultural measures such as pruning and removing side shoots, and picking off old leaves.
4. Reduce the application of chemical fertilizers, especially nitrogen fertilizer, and appropriately increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, biological fertilizers, decomposed organic fertilizers, etc., to help improve the cold resistance of vegetables and reduce the emission of harmful gases. Spray nutritional agents such as Bihu and chitosan to promote plant photosynthesis and nutrient absorption.
5. During foggy and hazy weather, ventilate as little as possible to prevent solid particles in the air from falling onto vegetable leaves.
6. Irrigate cautiously; irrigation should not be carried out during hazy, low-temperature weather, as this will lower the soil temperature and is not conducive to vegetable growth.
7. Pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and insect pests. During continuous hazy days, the humidity inside the greenhouse is relatively high, which very easily causes outbreaks of various diseases and insect pests. In order not to increase the humidity inside the greenhouse, smoke agents or dust agents can be used for prevention and control.
