Key Technical Points for Greenhouse Pepper Cultivation and Management
Winter is often a time of low temperature and drought, root activity weakens, plant growth slows down, and the incidence of viral diseases is high, thus affecting the normal growth and development of peppers. Therefore, measures must be taken to protect against cold and keep warm.
????I. Control of Temperature and Humidity
1. Temperature: The optimum temperature inside a pepper greenhouse is 20-25 degrees, and the temperature inside the greenhouse must be kept no lower than 10 degrees to meet the needs of pepper growth and development; spray foliar fertilizer in a timely manner to enhance the plants' cold resistance. Ventilation should follow the principle of "open the vents late, close them early" to ensure that the pepper plants grow better and faster.
2. Humidity: The humidity inside a pepper greenhouse should be 60-70%. Below 50% will affect the photosynthesis of peppers and the absorption of nutrients. Above 70% will cause excessive vegetative growth or the occurrence of diseases. The temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse can be regulated through the amount of ventilation.
????II. Field Management
1. Temperature management: Do not ventilate within one week after transplanting; focus on heat preservation, and the nighttime temperature should not be lower than 10 degrees.
2. Water management: Peppers are relatively drought-tolerant and not tolerant of waterlogging. To obtain high yields, water management must be strengthened. During the flowering and fruiting stage, irrigation should be carried out in a timely manner to keep the soil moist.
3. Topdressing: During the flowering stage, young fruit stage, and fruit expansion stage of peppers, fertilizer can be gradually increased. Spraying pepper foliar fertilizer can enhance the nutrient-matching function of pepper plants, prevent leaf drop, flower drop, and fruit drop; make peppers develop rapidly, with bright fruit color and a rich, fragrant spicy taste.
????III. Pest and Disease Control
Pest and disease control is the key to the success of greenhouse vegetable cultivation. In winter, greenhouses provide suitable environmental conditions for pests and diseases to overwinter, which will make vegetable pests and diseases increasingly serious. Timely fumigation with chlorothalonil smoke agents, or spraying with Kedubao, can effectively prevent and control the occurrence of viral diseases.
