Implementing water-saving irrigation techniques for dehydrated sweet peppers

???Water and fertilizer management:

Water and fertilizer management is the key to the success or failure of sweet pepper cultivation. On the day of planting or the next day, irrigate with the planting water; the irrigation amount should be controlled so that it fills half the depth of the furrow. Remember, never let the water flow onto the surface of the bed. After the planting water, appropriately control irrigation until 2-3 days before the first pepper (the "door pepper") flowers, then begin the first irrigation, also called the flower-forcing water. After the water has seeped down, combine loosening the soil by deep hoeing the bed furrow and carry out the first hilling toward the root zone of each row of seedlings, which can effectively lower the soil temperature.

5-6 days after irrigating the "flower-forcing water", apply 15 kg of urea per mu along with the second irrigation. 4-5 days after the first topdressing, irrigate once more with clear water (the third irrigation), then combine pruning of side shoots with intertillage and carry out the second hilling toward the sweet pepper roots. After another 4-5 days, along with the fourth irrigation, apply 15 kg of potassium sulfate compound fertilizer per mu for the second topdressing, and 4-5 days later carry out the fifth irrigation. After that, during the fruit expansion period, the soil must be kept moist. Usually irrigate once every 5-6 days, applying urea every other irrigation at 7-8 kg per mu each time, following the principle of "small amounts, many times".

??Irrigation timing:

It should be done in the early morning or evening, especially when high temperatures are forecast; the clear water irrigation must be completed before the temperature rises in the early morning.

???Irrigation method:

The practice of "running horse water" is advocated, that is, before the water reaches the top end of the bed furrow, promptly block the water inlet, and strictly prevent water accumulation in the bed furrow. After heavy rain, drain promptly.
