Feeding and management measures for hens to lay more eggs in autumn
In autumn, adult hens gradually begin to stop molting, and hens raised in spring also start laying eggs one after another. However, autumn weather is unstable, with a large temperature difference between day and night, so the flock is more prone to problems, which affects the egg-laying efficiency of the flock. In this article, we introduce several methods for chicken farmers to make hens lay more eggs in autumn.
First, chicken farmers should make a selection from the large flock of laying hens. Usually, the raising cycle of laying hens is within two years; hens over two years old have low egg-laying efficiency and should be culled in time. In addition, chickens with poor constitutions, chickens that lay few or even no eggs, and sick hens with no treatment value should also be promptly selected and culled. Of course, before culling, chicken farmers can feed them more high-calorie feed and sell them after fattening them up. In this way, chicken farmers can save feed costs and at the same time earn some income from culling some low-laying chickens.
Second, autumn weather is cool, so the flock's appetite improves and the feed consumed each day increases. In order for the flock to quickly recover their strength and improve their vigor, chicken farmers should feed the flock feed rich in protein, minerals and vitamins, so as to ensure the hens' sustained high production.
Third, because the temperature difference between day and night in autumn is large, heat preservation work must be done well to ensure good ventilation in the chicken house. In addition, there is more rain in early autumn and the air humidity is high; such an environment easily causes the flock to suffer from coccidiosis, colds, fowl plague and egg drop syndrome and other diseases. Chicken farmers should do a good job of ventilation and air exchange and adjust the temperature difference, so as to reduce flock stress and lower the incidence of respiratory diseases in the flock, thereby reducing the factors that affect the hens' egg-laying efficiency.
Fourth, during the egg-laying period, hens experience relatively great stress, so only by keeping the environment quiet enough can the hens lay eggs with peace of mind. All activities of chicken farmers inside the chicken house should follow the principle of reducing fright and noise and moving gently, and strangers, cats, dogs and the like should be kept out of the chicken house so as not to disturb the flock.
Fifth, chicken farmers should observe more the mental state, changes in food intake, body posture and manure conditions of laying hens, and isolate and treat them in time when abnormalities are found. In addition, chicken farmers should also do a good job of cleaning, tidying and disinfecting the chicken house, exercise yard, feed troughs and water troughs, so as to reduce the probability of various chicken diseases and maintain the smoothness of the hens' egg laying.
The above are the five aspects that chicken farmers should attend to for laying hens in autumn. As long as they follow these five points, laying hen farmers will surely achieve high egg production and a bumper harvest in autumn.
