Taichung Dragon Boat Festival on June 10 features Taiwanese hip-hop and hilarious glove puppetry
Taichung Taiwanese hip-hop and hilarious glove puppetry go wild for Dragon Boat Festival on 6/10!
The Huludun Cultural Center in Taichung will hold a series of events this year under the "2016 Huludun Arts Festival." The first event, tied to the Dragon Boat Festival, is scheduled for the evening of Friday, June 10, and will invite two well-known teams, the king of glove puppetry "A-Zhong Glove Puppetry" and the popular Taiwanese hip-hop act "UNDER LOVER," to present a themed performance titled "Dragon Boat Festival Abundance," along with a rich and fun parent-child challenge course and a hipster market and other side activities, bringing the public a special festival experience.
The first event of the Huludun Arts Festival, "Dragon Boat Festival Abundance," will kick off at 4 p.m. on June 10 with the "Dragon Boat Parent-Child Five-Stage Challenge." Members of the public who successfully complete all five fun stages will receive a "Parent-Child Painted Folding Fan," available while supplies last. Starting at 7 p.m., the trendy glove puppetry leader "A-Zhong Glove Puppetry," deeply loved by children and adults alike, will present a hilarious tale of Qu Yuan, blending juggling, stunts and childlike dialogue to create a fun, spectacular and uniquely characteristic classic puppet golden-light show.
The wildly popular Taiwanese-style rap group "UNDER LOVER," now famous in streets and alleys, will headline the finale, performing self-written songs such as "My Situation," "Proposal March," "Rose" and "Infatuated Rose" in RNB and RAP style. "UNDER LOVER" has built its presence online for 5 years. In 2012, it collaborated with the Taiwanese hip-hop RAP group "Nine One One" on "Infatuated Man," which became an internet hit, with views surpassing 19 million. "Infatuated Rose" even reached 45 million clicks, making them a rising new act in Taiwan's music scene.
On the day of the event, a "Taste Market" will also be arranged together with hipster food, allowing attendees to taste creative cuisine while enjoying the exciting performances and experience the romantic flavor of hipster life. It is an in-depth event combining culture and entertainment and worth lingering over for a long time for the whole family.
