Clever dehumidification in vegetable greenhouses saves effort in disease prevention and control

A high-humidity environment is extremely favorable for the germination and infection of many pathogens. Once a disease occurs, it often causes a major epidemic, and in severe cases results in total crop failure. To achieve the goal of disease prevention, the following dehumidification measures can be adopted in production:

1. Choose anti-drip film. Using anti-drip film can significantly reduce humidity, help raise temperature and lower humidity, and can also increase light transmission.

2. Cover with plastic mulch. Using plastic mulch can reduce evaporation of soil moisture and the number of irrigations, and is also an important measure for lowering air humidity inside the greenhouse.

3. Ventilation and air exchange. Expelling moist air and bringing in dry outside air is the most basic method of reducing humidity. However, the relationship between heat preservation and dehumidification must be handled well. If the temperature drops too quickly during ventilation, the vents should be closed promptly to prevent a sudden temperature drop from exposing the vegetables to low-temperature damage.

4. Use drip irrigation. Drip irrigation saves water and labor, and more importantly, it can effectively reduce the increase in air humidity caused by watering.

5. Water scientifically. Choose sunny days for watering; where plastic mulch is used, subsurface irrigation under the film can be adopted. The amount of water applied must be strictly controlled to prevent excessive humidity inside the greenhouse. After each watering, ventilate appropriately and promptly hoe and loosen the soil to cut off the soil capillaries, avoiding capillary water rising to the surface and causing massive evaporation of soil moisture.

6. Dusting or fumigation with smoke agents for disease prevention. Spraying increases humidity inside the greenhouse, which is unfavorable for disease control. If dusting or smoke agents are used, the control effect can be improved.

7. Natural moisture absorption. Materials such as rice straw, wheat straw and quicklime can be placed between the rows to absorb moisture, which can also achieve the purpose of reducing humidity and preventing disease.
