Eggplant Seedling Stage Management Measures and Key Technical Points
1. Temperature management
When sowing, the soil temperature must not be lower than 16°C, and the air temperature must not be lower than 14°C. After pricking out, maintain the daytime temperature at around 30°C and the nighttime temperature at 23-25°C. After the seedlings have recovered, lower the daytime temperature to 22-25°C and the nighttime temperature to 15-18°C, so that the seedlings grow vigorously. 10-15 days before transplanting, carry out stronger low-temperature hardening, with a daytime maximum temperature of around 20°C and a nighttime temperature no higher than 15°C. Gradually lower it to 10-12°C.
2. Water management
The principle is to meet the seedlings' water needs, neither watering too much nor controlling water excessively. Handle as appropriate by observing seedling growth and the surface soil moisture. When the surface soil has dried and the seedlings show slight wilting at noon, water appropriately on a sunny morning. When the seedlings are growing normally, the principle is to keep the bed surface alternately dry and moist.
3. Fertilizer and water management
If the seedbed soil has sufficient organic fertilizer and the seedlings are growing normally, generally no supplementary fertilizer is needed. If the seedlings are found to be light green in color and thin and weak, dissolve monopotassium phosphate and urea in warm water at a 1:1 ratio to make a 0.5% solution, spray it with a watering can, and then spray once more with clean water to prevent burning the leaves.
After pricking out and seedling recovery, apply a seedling-promoting fertilizer once, scattering a layer of fertilized soil in the seedbed. The preparation ratio is 1 part dried manure or cake fertilizer plus 1 part decomposed horse manure plus 8 parts fine soil, with a small amount of plant ash added, to promote seedling growth and flower bud differentiation.
