Summer charm: 600 ping of giant lotus in Jupu Village, Hsinchu, a new tourism highlight

As summer arrives, the lotus flowers planted by Zeng Guoqu, chairman of the Jupu Village Community Development Association in Xinpu Township, Hsinchu, beside the local Longxin Highway sway gracefully and charmingly under the blazing sun. The over 600 ping of giant lotus are a highlight that attracts passing people and vehicles, and the pink blossoms are even more stunning. Still to come are various other lotuses such as the Victoria water lily, and visitors are welcome to come and enjoy this beautiful sea of flowers.

Zeng Guoqu, who served 20 years as Jupu village chief, as a director and supervisor of the Xinpu Township Farmers' Association, and as a representative of the county farmers' association, and who is currently chairman of the Jupu Village Community Development Association, began more than ten years ago to support Xinpu Township's tourism development by planting various kinds of lotus on his own farmland of more than two fen. Among them, the giant lotus that produces pink flowers attracts the most attention. One pink blossom after another sways in the wind, and as the summer breeze blows, their soft postures are truly spectacular.

Many people and vehicles passing by the former village chief Zeng Guoqu's lotus field stop and linger for this lotus field. There is no finer summer scene than this. Former village chief Zeng Guoqu said that the giant lotus, which grows taller than a person, blooms from June to September each year, and if you pay a little attention you can also see lotus seeds appearing. This period is the best time for lotus lovers to visit. In addition, one month from now, the Victoria water lily, which can bear a weight of 50 kg, will also be open for viewing under his careful cultivation. At present, this lotus field is the largest planting area in the Xinpu area. Besides the giant lotus, the lotus field also contains Indian lotus that produces yellow and red flowers, as well as Taiwan Nuphar, and the small yellow flowers and the large red flowers of the giant lotus set each other off, truly a feast for the eyes.
