How can Taiwanese companies seize business opportunities in Africa? Trade vanguards from the Ministry of Economic Affairs share their experience
Ministry of Economic Affairs Africa trade vanguards share how Taiwanese companies can seize business opportunities
This year, the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Africa Market Office is targeting four countries with deep development potential - Ethiopia, Morocco, Tunisia and Ghana - and sending trade vanguards to visit them in depth, seeking trade opportunities that closely match the expansion needs of our country's companies. After completing the trade visit missions to Ethiopia and Morocco at the end of May, the vanguards for Tunisia and Ghana have recently sent back good news one after another. The Ministry of Economic Affairs' Africa Office is expected to release at the end of June the overall results of its in-depth exploration of business opportunities in the four countries' markets.
The Africa trade vanguards who went deep into Tunisia this time visited 30 companies and called on local chambers of commerce and industry, gaining an in-depth understanding of local industrial and business trends, and successfully uncovering about 30 business opportunities. For example, Moulin d'Or, the largest bread manufacturer in North Africa, which is currently expanding its factory buildings, has a demand for manufacturing machinery that our country's companies can seize. Another company, the Intermental Group, which owns 57 companies, asked our country's companies for quotations within just a few days after contact by the vanguards, and expressed willingness to carry out technical cooperation with our companies on electricity meters. The local saline groundwater quality creates demand for desalination equipment, which is another business opportunity that Taiwanese machinery manufacturers can target.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs' Africa Market Office will hold a series of business opportunity briefings starting at the end of this month in Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung. The four vanguards will appear at each session to explain the abundant findings of this trip, opening up opportunities for companies to advance into the new frontier of Africa and expand our merchants' new trade territory. Later, in July, an "Africa Summit Forum and Procurement Matchmaking Meeting" will be held, inviting heavyweight buyers to Taiwan, and in September companies will be led to Africa to explore more business opportunities.
