Deworming pigeons requires care: pigeon keepers must master these precautions
Be careful to get the dosage right
All kinds of deworming drugs have harmful effects on pigeons to varying degrees. When deworming, the dosage must be calculated correctly and safely, to prevent damage to the pigeons from too large a dose; too small a dose will fail to achieve the deworming effect and, on the contrary, can easily cause the parasites to develop drug resistance. To ensure the deworming effect, after the first administration, give a second round of deworming medication at the required interval.
Be careful in choosing deworming drugs
When choosing a deworming drug, you should select it according to the type of parasite infecting the pigeon, the site of infestation, individual differences and other varying circumstances; because parasitic diseases in pigeons often involve mixed infections, when deworming, try to choose drugs with a broad deworming spectrum, multiple functions, good efficacy, low toxicity and good safety performance.
Be careful to use the correct method of administration
Different methods of administration produce different deworming effects. Generally, for external parasites, a medicated bath or spraying is preferable; before a medicated bath, make sure the birds have drunk enough water, choose a sunny morning to carry it out, and at the end carry out a thorough insecticide treatment of the pigeon loft environment; for eliminating parasites of the respiratory tract and digestive tract, oral or intramuscular administration is suitable; when eliminating digestive tract parasites, it should be done when the pigeons are on an empty stomach for a good effect.
