3. Topdressing generally adopts 2 applications. The first is the seedling-promoting fertilizer applied at the small trumpet stage, using the quick-acting fertilizer ammonium bicarbonate, applied at 30----50kg per mu; the topdressing can be combined with intertillage, weeding and earthing up, and covered with soil after application. The second topdressing is the stalk-and-ear fertilizer, using urea as the topdressing, applied at the large trumpet stage, generally at 20---30kg of urea per mu; it should be applied before rain or before watering, and covered with soil after application.

4. For some cultivated land lacking trace elements such as zinc, iron and boron, spraying a 0.3% ferrous sulfate or 0.2% borax solution at the jointing-booting stage has a significant yield-increasing effect.
