Miaoli Houlong Dr. Pig AAALAC International Accreditation Unveiled, County Government Recognizes

Dr. Pig Animal Technology Co., Ltd. in Houlong Township, Miaoli County, has passed AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International) international accreditation. On the morning of the 19th, an unveiling ceremony was held at the Dr. Pig livestock farm in Houlong Township. Deputy County Magistrate Deng Gui-ju and many guests attended the ceremony. The deputy county magistrate said this is the pride of Miaoli and injects a strong boost into the upgrading of traditional industries and the development of biomedical technology.

Wang Yao-hung, the person in charge of the Dr. Pig livestock farm, has been in the pig farming industry for 25 years and spent 10 years researching related technologies. Since pigs are physiologically similar to humans, some medical research currently uses pigs as subjects for human clinical and surgical procedures. Two years ago, Wang Yao-sheng came to Miaoli to establish a professional experimental pig farm that uses pigs for preclinical animal testing. Based on different testing needs, it entered the preclinical medical R&D market and developed a professional platform compliant with preclinical animal testing. Wang Yao-hung stated that the testing farm operates with fully humane management, featuring operating rooms identical to those used in human medicine, post-operative recovery observation rooms, and other related supporting technologies, so that all pigs receive nursing care in a well-equipped environment, and the experimental data obtained can be submitted to the United States and the European Union.

Miaoli County Deputy Magistrate Deng Gui-ju attended the unveiling ceremony and was very happy that this international-level accreditation was obtained by Miaoli. She thanked Dr. Wang for his dedication and affirmed his efforts in helping to open up new possibilities for traditional industries. Deng Gui-ju stated that through Dr. Wang's tireless efforts, a pig experimental animal facility has been established that has passed AAALAC international accreditation, and it is also the first institution nationwide to obtain AAALAC accreditation with pigs. The county government feels very happy and proud, and believes even more that its future contribution to the biomedical field will be very significant.
