Six key points to note for foliar feeding of fruit trees
1. According to the purpose and timing of foliar feeding, select the right fertilizer type and a suitable concentration. Too high a concentration easily burns the leaves and causes fertilizer damage, while too low a concentration makes the fertilizer effect unnoticeable.
2. Foliar feeding has relatively strict external condition requirements, such as air humidity, rainfall, temperature, ground cover, and so on. When conditions are unsuitable, the effect of the topdressing is not high. The relative air humidity when spraying fertilizer should preferably be 40%-50%; if it rains within 48 hours after spraying, it must be re-sprayed; dry and hot weather is not suitable, and spraying should be done when the temperature is lower and evaporation is small. The suitable time is before 9 a.m. or after 4 p.m., so as to keep the fertilizer solution moist, prolong absorption time, and increase the amount absorbed by the leaves; foliar feeding generally can be carried out only when ground cover reaches more than 60%, and it can be done at any time for special needs.
3. When mixing multiple fertilizers and pesticides for use, special attention must be paid to making sure the mixture is uniform and does not produce precipitate.
4. Strictly control the concentration of the solution and the spraying amount, to prevent leaf burn or insufficient dosage that fails to achieve the expected effect.
5. Focus on spraying new leaves and the undersides of leaves, but both the front and back of the leaves should be sprayed, so as to help mineral nutrients enter the leaves as quickly as possible and improve fertilizer efficiency.
6. Foliar feeding uses a small amount, so it can only serve as an auxiliary measure; root fertilization should still be carried out on time. Qiu Rongxiang
