What feeds are unsuitable for feeding sheep in autumn
It is said that in autumn, dew-covered grass should not be used to feed sheep. If sheep eat this kind of grass, it will cause bloat (ruminal tympany). Therefore, when herding sheep in autumn, in the morning you should wait until the sun rises and the dew disappears before taking them out to pasture, and in the evening you should bring them back before the dew appears.
In addition, the soft husk on corn cobs and the second-growth seedlings of sorghum and corn after harvest should not be used to feed sheep either. This is because the soft husk of corn cobs is not easy to chew and digest, and gathering in the omasum can easily cause blockage; over time it will ferment and rot, and produce large amounts of toxic substances, leading to death from acidosis in sheep. And the second-growth seedlings of sorghum and corn after the autumn harvest contain large amounts of hydrocyanic acid, which will cause poisoning in sheep.
