Miaoli County Touwu Slow Living Festival Picnic: Visitors Leisurely Experience Slow Time

The Miaoli County Government held the "Touwu Slow Living Festival - Three-Colored Lake Light Picnic" event on the 23rd at Rixin Island of Mingde Reservoir. Visitors from all over the country listened to music, blew bubbles, enjoyed picnics, and strolled through the market amid the beautiful lake scenery, experiencing the leisurely, simple slow-living aesthetic of the island.

The series of events of the Touwu Slow Living Festival kicked off in the afternoon with the picnic. More than 200 people who had pre-ordered local-themed picnic baskets brought their families and laid out picnic mats on the island's lawn and under the shade of trees, enjoying handmade sandwiches by Hakka mothers, organic braised snacks, vegetable buns, pumpkin tarts and more, savoring the leisurely slow time of LOHAS living.

Deputy County Magistrate Deng Guiju said that Touwu Township retains much of its natural, not overly developed environment, making it suitable for slow travel and slow living. The township also has many hidden slow-living secret spots. She hoped that through lawn picnics paired with healthful food and musical feasts, travelers would be encouraged to slow down and experience the happiness of a slow-paced life.

The picnic also featured a picnic setup contest in conjunction. Twenty-five groups of participating members set up their displays under the theme "My Touwu Slow Living." Wu Yafen from Taoyuan and her husband brought their son and daughter and creatively built their own smiling picnic area with colorful toys, cups and plates, and handmade desserts. She said, "Enjoying a leisurely meal with the whole family in nature is the happiest thing about a day off."

The Touwu Slow Living Festival also held the "Three-Colored Lake Light Stamp Collection Check-in Fun" activity. From now until August 15, visitors only need to use the event stamp card, make purchases at LOHAS Alliance stores, and collect one commemorative stamp of each of the 3 colors, then drop it into the store's raffle box for a chance to win a dream picnic basket, afternoon tea vouchers and other great gifts.
