How to Increase the Laying Rate of Laying Ducks? Practical Measures and Methods Explained

Measures to Increase the Laying Rate of Laying Ducks

First, nutritional supplementation must be timely.

Increase the animal-based protein ingredients in the feed and double the addition of multivitamins to supplement nutrition. Generally, the nutritional level of the autumn duck diet is 18% crude protein, 0.3% methionine, 0.7% lysine, 8% crude fiber, 3% calcium and 0.6% phosphorus.

Second, rational feeding.

The amount of concentrated feed fed to autumn ducks should depend on the laying rate of the flock. If the flock's laying rate is above 50%, more concentrated feed can be added. Otherwise, some green fodder can be fed or the amount of bran in the concentrated feed can be increased, while reducing the amount of carbohydrate ingredients.

Third, maintain a suitable environment.

The physiology and living habits of laying ducks require that their living environment have both a pool for playing in the water and a dry activity area. The pool water depth should be above 1.5 m and the water quality should be hygienic, and the activity area should be covered with some fine sand. Laying ducks have vigorous metabolism in autumn, so they are very sensitive to the environment, and therefore the feed composition should not be changed easily. If a change is truly necessary, it should be done from less to more and gradually transitioned, and the feeding method or technical operating procedures must never be changed. If the temperature is too high, the time for the flock to rest under the trees can be extended or the number of times the flock bathes can be increased.

Fourth, increase lighting.

Insufficient lighting in autumn can easily lead to a decline in the laying rate of laying ducks, so two sets of lighting equipment can be installed in the house to supplement lighting. One set is fitted with bulbs of about 15 watts, used for the flock to rest, and the other set is fitted with 60-watt bulbs, used for feeding the flock and stimulating the flock's activity.

Fifth, forced molting.

The natural molting period of a duck flock lasts about 150 days, and in production, forced molting can be carried out in a planned way to shorten the rest period from laying. It should be noted that on the day forced molting is carried out, the flock must not be allowed to bathe, so as to avoid infection.
