First turnover base project in the processing zone officially launched Lite-On Group expands its plant

To expand investment and accelerate park renewal, the Processing Zone Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has taken the lead in promoting a park turnover plan, and Lite-On Group has come out on top, securing the first turnover base. On the 15th, witnessed jointly by Shen Rongjin, Political Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Lin Yingbin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Kaohsiung City Government, and Song Gongyuan, Chairman of Lite-On Group, Huang Wengu, Director-General of the Export Processing Zone Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Chen Guangzhong, Chief Executive Officer of Lite-On Group, signed an investment contract. Lite-On Group will invest more than 10 billion yuan to establish the "Kaohsiung Operations Center" in the Nanzih Park, which is estimated to provide over a thousand job opportunities and inject new development vitality into the land revitalization and industrial transformation of Nanzih Park.

Shen Rongjin, Political Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, said that investment by manufacturers in the export processing zones has continued to grow, but the existing 371 hectares of land in the parks are all fully leased. Therefore, the "turnover base plan" was launched, actively freeing up 2.6 hectares of storage and transport land in Nanzih Park as the first turnover base for investment promotion. He thanked Lite-On Group for responding to the first investment case. Through building first at another site, then relocating, and then demolishing, both the plant expansion needs of manufacturers and the renewal of old factories in the park are taken into account. That is, after the investor commits to completing the investment and construction of this case, it will vacate the old factory in the park and terminate the lease on the land leased for the old factory. The vacated land will serve as the next turnover base and then be provided to other businesses in the zone. Through this cyclical method, old factories in the park will be gradually renewed, and this will also be promoted to other parks in Kaohsiung and Taichung for turnover and renewal.

Song Gongyuan, Chairman of Lite-On Group, said that he was born in Xiaogang, Kaohsiung, and his first job was in the Kaohsiung Export Processing Zone. He has a deep emotional connection to the processing zone, so this time he chose to locate the Kaohsiung Operations Center in the Nanzih Processing Zone, hoping it will help with the industrial transformation and upgrading of the Nanzih Processing Zone, develop new growth momentum, and promote the local economy.
