What are the precautions for applying formula fertilizer?
(1) Choose a suitable fertilizer variety. Select a formula fertilizer variety based on the agrochemical characteristics of the soil and the nutrient requirements of the crop. If a fertilizer is applied that does not match the soil characteristics and the crop's nutrient requirement patterns, it will not only waste certain nutrients but also lead to reduced yield.
(2) Use formula fertilizer in combination with single-element fertilizers. The composition of formula fertilizer is fixed, making it difficult to meet the different nutrient element requirements of different soils, different crops, and different growth stages. Based on the nutrient content of the formula fertilizer, single-element chemical fertilizers should be used in combination to ensure a coordinated nutrient supply.
(3) Choose a suitable application method. Appropriate technical measures should be taken when applying formula fertilizer for it to be effective; when formula fertilizer is used as a base fertilizer, its effect is superior to other single-element fertilizers.
(4) Master the appropriate application timing and application rate. Formula fertilizer is a multi-element fertilizer and is best applied as a base fertilizer; try not to use it as a topdressing. The appropriate application rate should be determined according to soil fertility, variety, and yield.
