Preparation work must be done well before using a greenhouse
Prepare well before using a greenhouse for quality vegetables and high yields
Right now, vegetable growers cultivating overwintering off-season vegetables are about to start the pre-planting preparation work again, so what work needs to be done well before using a vegetable greenhouse?
Blending nutrient soil. Nutrient soil is made from fertile garden soil, decomposed barnyard manure, or compost that has been piled and rotted in advance, and where conditions allow, peat soil can also be used. The above fertilizers are then combined with some fully decomposed farmyard manure and superphosphate, etc. The formula is: 6 parts loamy soil that has never grown the same kind of vegetable, 4 parts decomposed farmyard manure; for each cubic meter of the above mixed soil, add 20-25 kg decomposed farmyard manure, 1.5 kg compound fertilizer, 0.08 kg 50% carbendazim powder, and 2 kg superphosphate; sieve the mixture, pile it up, cover it well with plastic film, let it sit for a period, and then it is ready to use.
Prepare the seedbed. For raising seedlings in nutrient soil or by broadcasting, the prepared nutrient soil can be spread directly on the seedbed. Several days before sowing, dig out about 10 cm of the original soil in the seedbed, level the bottom, then fill in 12 cm of nutrient soil and level it again. Gourd-family and bean-family vegetables generally are not separated during seedling raising, so it is better to use nutrient pots for seedling raising; the nutrient soil can be put into nutrient pots, and then the nutrient pots are arranged closely on the dug-out seedbed; the gaps between pots should be sealed tightly with nutrient soil to prevent moisture loss after sowing. High-temperature greenhouse sealing for disinfection. High-temperature greenhouse sealing for disinfection, combined with chemical disinfection, can effectively kill many kinds of pathogens. About 15 days before using the greenhouse, spray 10% duobai dust on the ground inside the greenhouse, 1 kg per mu; then deep-plow the soil and close the greenhouse; and apply 45% chlorothalonil smoke agent, 1 kg per mu; after fumigation, continue to keep the greenhouse closed and use sunlight to create high temperatures inside for greenhouse sealing; after 7-10 days of high-temperature greenhouse sealing, spray the framework, ground, and walls inside the greenhouse thoroughly with 800-fold dilution of 50% carbendazim wettable powder. Prepare fertilizer and fertilize and make ridges. Appropriately increasing organic fertilizer application is beneficial to high yield and good quality of vegetable crops, but the organic fertilizer applied must be fully decomposed; otherwise, root burn is likely to occur. Also, the organic fertilizer prepared for application in the greenhouse should be moistened with water 50-60 days in advance, piled up, covered well with plastic film, fully fermented, and applied after decomposition. In low-temperature seasons, it is best to do this inside the greenhouse or in another warm place. The decomposed fertilizer can be spread inside the greenhouse, then deep-plowed, leveled, and ridged. How to choose vegetable seedlings for autumn and winter crops
Autumn-winter and overwintering crop seasons are the main crop seasons for many vegetable planting bases, with a long growth period, high yield and price, and good benefits; for this crop season, it is especially necessary to choose excellent seedlings. To improve growers' seedling level, here is an introduction for vegetable grower friends on the correct selection and use of vegetable seedlings.
????Characteristics of excellent seedlings
Excellent varieties are suitable for the local facility conditions (heat preservation capacity, lighting capacity, etc.), soil (soil type, soil fertility, pH value, salinity, etc.), and climate (rain and snow weather, wind force, temperature).
Good stress resistance. Stress conditions include extreme low-temperature weather, long-term rainy weather, low-light weather, soil salinization, and other various factors unsuitable for vegetable growth.
Healthy and strong. Excellent seedlings require thick stems, complete cotyledons, dark green leaves, and robust growth; the root system is tender white and dense, with dense root hairs, and the roots tightly wrap the substrate to form a complete soil ball that does not fall apart; no yellow leaves, no pests or diseases, and the whole tray of seedlings is neat and uniform.
Methods for purchasing excellent seedlings
Order seedlings in advance. Many growers like to buy seedlings only when they are ready to plant, and often cannot buy strong seedlings of the right age.
Buy seedlings through normal channels. Now some unscrupulous manufacturers, in order to reduce costs, use seed scions, rootstocks, etc. to pass off inferior goods as good ones, or even use counterfeit and shoddy products; in some cases, seedlings are transferred from other regions without regard to whether the variety is adapted, and the seedlings are not quarantined.
Sign the contract carefully and keep the documents well, so that if problems arise there is evidence to check.
Choose seedling companies with strong strength and good reputation. Good seedling companies have excellent germplasm resources, advanced seedling facilities and equipment, mature seedling technology, and good reputation, so they can guarantee seedling quality to the greatest extent.
