Seeking a Way Forward for Local Businesses - The New Southbound Beacon Lights the Future of Yunlin's Industries

At 11 a.m. on the 23rd, the Yunlin County Government held a New Southbound Policy industry forum in the Water Resources Center meeting room, chaired by County Magistrate Li Chin-yung. Representatives of Yunlin County's industries were invited to attend and engaged in an exchange of views and communication with the county government team. The forum proceeded in a lively and smooth manner.

In his remarks, County Magistrate Li Chin-yung said that the government will play a proactive role in this wave of the "New Southbound Policy" by removing investment obstacles for enterprises, helping them make sound investment plans so as to cope with the competitive pressure brought by trade liberalization.

Afterwards, the county government's Planning Department and Agriculture Department gave presentations to the attending business representatives on the themes "2016 Malaysia Industry-Government-Academia Exchange: Industrial Outcomes" and "New Southbound Opportunities for Yunlin Agriculture," hoping to help businesses understand the business opportunities brought by the "New Southbound Policy" and the countermeasures they should adopt. The interaction between the two sides at this forum was enthusiastic, and the meeting concluded after a full exchange of views between industry and government.

Su Kung-chih, Director of the Public Works Department, said that the county government cares about the development of Yunlin's local industries, and that as long as businesses have needs, similar meetings or activities will be held from time to time; on the one hand, to promote and coordinate with the central government's policies, and on the other, to enable the needs of local businesses to be effectively conveyed to both local and central government. He hoped that industry and government would maintain open communication channels at all times, with the county government serving as a bridge between the two sides. Finally, County Magistrate Li Chin-yung said that a "New Southbound Industrial Opportunities - Yunlin Agriculture Advancing into Southeast Asia Forum" is scheduled to be held on September 19 at National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, and that Director Huang Chih-fang of the Presidential Office's New Southbound Office and many experts and scholars will also attend. Participants were urged to sign up enthusiastically for the event.
