Semiconductor industry and precision machinery cross-industry alliance: Taichung City is ready

Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association, SEMI, Taiwan Smart Automation and the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association announced on the 30th the joint signing of a cross-industry alliance cooperation memorandum, combining domestic IC companies and the semiconductor industry to promote smart machinery and solve the bottlenecks of Industry 4.0. Minister of Economic Affairs Lee Shih-kuang and Taichung Mayor Lin Chia-lung attended together as witnesses, stressing that the government will serve as a strong backing for businesses, so that after the semiconductor IC industry and precision machinery form a "dual-strong" strategic alliance, they can drive Taiwan's industrial "manufacturing" upgrade to smart "intelligent" manufacturing, with multiplying effects, representing Taiwan "playing in the international cup."

The Taiwan Smart Automation and Robotics Association (TAIROA), the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association (TMBA), the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA) and SEMI held a "Cross-Industry Alliance and Manufacturer Cooperation Memorandum Signing Press Conference" at the Sheraton Grand Taipei Hotel. TMBA Chairman and HIWIN Technologies Chairman Eric Chuo, TSIA Chairman and Etron Technology Chairman Lu Chao-chun, and SEMI Taiwan President Terry Tsao attended the signing as representatives. Minister of Economic Affairs Lee Shih-kuang, Taichung Mayor Lin Chia-lung and others were present to witness, hoping to jointly lay out smart manufacturing, smart machinery and smart components, and drive the growth of platform economies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing and big data.

In this regard, Mayor Lin Chia-lung said that after the strategic alliance of semiconductors, optoelectronics and smart precision machinery, the "alliance of strengths" among strong industries will have a multiplying effect and will be a super-strong team "playing in the international cup." Taichung is already prepared for the development of smart machinery, and businesses are welcome to come to Taichung to invest and set up factories, making Taichung a base for production, research and development, and innovation.
