Key Points for Asparagus Land Preparation and Planting

Before planting, the land must be well prepared. Asparagus is suitable for cultivation in loose, fertile sandy loam soil with good aeration, deep soil layers, rich organic matter, and a pH of 6-8. First, apply fertilizer in the field, spreading 3000 kg of decomposed barn manure per mu, then deep-plow it into the soil, prepare the land and make beds with a bed width of 150-160 cm. Open a planting trench in the middle of the bed, with a trench width of 40 cm and a depth of 30-40 cm. Then apply fertilizer in the planting trench, with 2000 kg of organic fertilizer and 30 kg of compound fertilizer per mu, mix well with the soil, spread it on the bottom of the trench, cover with soil, and level the planting trench with the bed surface, ready for planting.

When lifting seedlings, the fleshy roots should be kept longer, and the seedlings should be dug as deep as possible, lifted with soil, so as to avoid damaging the roots during lifting and planting. The lifted seedlings should not be planted the next day; it is best to lift and plant at the same time.

When planting, dig planting holes at a plant spacing of 30-40 cm, place the small seedlings into the planting holes, cover with soil and press firm. Generally, about 1500 small seedlings can be planted per mu.

After planting, immediately water with manure water, using 1000 kg of clear water manure mixed with 1 kg of 40% asparagus green per mu, and pour it into the planting trench.
