How to extend the peak laying period of laying hens? Practical feeding and management methods

How to extend the peak laying period

First, select good breeds. The female pheasant should be physically strong, well-proportioned in build, well developed, lively and active, with large, bright eyes. The male pheasant should weigh more than 1.5 kg, be well-proportioned in all parts, well developed, with well-developed breast muscles, a bright red comb, a loud crow, full plumage and a majestic posture.

Second, do a good job of disease prevention. Keep the coop clean. Once a week, spray-disinfect with Baidusha or Laijunling diluted 1:1000; the disinfectant solution can be sprayed directly onto the pheasants' bodies. Scrub the feed troughs and water troughs once a day with 0.1% potassium permanganate. During the peak laying period, the main diseases are pullorum and E. coli, which can be prevented and treated with penicillin. Put 10,000 units of penicillin per bird into the water for the chickens to drink; generally once every 2 weeks, which also helps prevent colds.

Third, formulate feed scientifically. Corn 55%, soybean cake 15%, wheat bran 17%, sorghum 6.5%, fish meal 8%, shell powder 2%, bone meal 1.2%, salt 0.4%, additives 0.5%, and add 50 g of methionine, 50 g of choline chloride and 5 g of multivitamins to every 50 kg of feed.

Fourth, the ratio of males to females should be reasonable. Keeping too many male chickens causes feed waste and frequent fights among males competing for mates. But too few males easily leads to a low fertilization rate of hatching eggs. A scientific male-to-female ratio of 1:3-4 is preferable.

Fifth, scientific feeding and management. Clean the coop on a regular schedule every day, provide water and feed at set times, and always have plenty of clean drinking water available. 15°C-25°C is the most suitable temperature; above 30°C or below 10°C will affect egg production. When the temperature is high, pay attention to ventilation and cooling; when the temperature is low, pay attention to keeping warm, and handle the relationship between warmth retention and ventilation well.
