Main factors affecting broiler profitability

1. Selling price and selling time. The factor that affects broiler production profitability the most is the price at which the producer sells. There are many factors that affect price, among which the most fundamental are the social value of the commodity, socially necessary labor time, and market supply and demand, none of which the individual producer can decide. However, the producer can decide the selling time. Different selling times mean different body weights and grades, and prices vary greatly, which has a major impact on the producer's profitability. Producers should take into comprehensive consideration the grade, price, feed conversion rate, body weight and so on, pay close attention to market dynamics, and choose the optimal selling time in order to obtain high returns.

2. Stocking density and the number of broiler house turnovers. Under the same production facility conditions, the greater the total sales volume of broilers produced, the lower the cost per unit weight and the higher the return. But sometimes when the age in weeks is greater and the body weight is higher, the grade is affected, the price is low, and the return is relatively smaller. The total annual sales weight of broilers produced by a given production facility (chicken house) equals the product of the stocking density and the number of turnovers of that chicken house. Therefore, with different selling weights, different stocking densities, and different numbers of chicken house turnovers, the total weight sold per square meter of chicken house area differs. We must, on the one hand, consider the selling price and grade, and on the other hand determine the selling weight, stocking density, and annual number of turnovers that give the best returns.

3. Rearing rate and quality. The percentage of the number sold relative to the number of chicks placed in the house is called the rearing rate. The rearing rate has a great impact on the broiler producer's profitability. In general, when the rearing rate is high, the flock's development and quality are also good, the feed conversion rate is also excellent, the cost borne per unit body weight of the broilers sold is also lower, and the return is relatively high. A rearing rate of 98% is usually hoped for. However, no matter how high the rearing rate is, if the broilers sold are not plump and many are injured or disabled, their quality will be affected, which will greatly reduce production income. Therefore, in order to obtain broilers with high yield per unit area and relatively good quality, stocking density should be appropriately considered, and management of water supply, feed supply, disease prevention, dry floors, careful catching, and transport should be strengthened to ensure broiler quality and increase production income. In short, there are many factors affecting broiler production profitability. In addition to the main factors mentioned above, there are also factors such as flock uniformity, the operating environment, and the degree of integrated operation.
