To grow roses well, you only need to master 4 points, it's really simple! If I also had a good balcony, I would definitely grow some roses. Roses not only have rich flower colors, but also easily form a bursting pot, with a pleasant fragrance. And for those with good skills, they can even achieve continuous blooming all year round, so I often say that growing flowers without growing roses is like not growing flowers at all.

If you want to grow roses well, you need to learn to choose good varieties according to your location. For example, climbing roses generally prefer terraces, and of course ground planting works, but balcony pot cultivation is also fine, and we can train them horizontally. And there are also some that should be relatively mini small-pot roses, such as Juice Balcony, which is quite good. As for climbing roses, I prefer Longsha. For beginners and veteran gardeners, the difference is really not about whose seedlings to choose!

So what problems do we need to pay attention to if we want to grow roses well?

Pruning is very important

If roses are to have many flowers and bloom continuously, the plant itself needs to be tall and large. This requires a good flower pot, and good lighting and good air permeability. Roses that are too dense cannot bloom much, and for lush and leafy roses, only pruning is the most suitable and most direct approach.

Flower pot

For potted roses, it is better to choose root-control pots, such as gallon pots. This kind of flower pot has greater depth, holds more soil, and has a large capacity, allowing roses to maintain a good growth state. Small roses may be more suitable for balconies, but flower lovers who like climbing roses can still grow them, just train them horizontally.

Soil

Potted roses must use loose, fertile soil rich in humus. You can add activated carbon or willow branches at the bottom of the pot to avoid direct contact with fertilizer. During the growing period, give some light fertilizer regularly, preferably decomposed organic fertilizer, which helps promote flowering and promote robust plant growth.

When growing roses, be careful not to water too much, otherwise it is easy to cause root choking, leading to root rot. In the end, the roses will turn yellow, drop leaves, and die. Do not assume the plant is short of water just because the surface soil is dry. It is best to check the soil down to 4cm, as doing so can greatly improve the chance of success.

Watering time is generally before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Watering should be done by watering the soil plus spraying the leaves. Do not water the soil alone, as leaf humidity is also very important.

Fertilizing

Roses like slightly acidic fertilizer, and among these, our fermented fertilizer is currently one of the better nutrient sources. But many people say the fermentation process is too unpleasant. Rice water is okay. But things like fish intestines, enzymes, and cake fertilizer are more difficult. Especially in residential communities, if one household ferments it, the whole building suffers! So it is recommended to choose finished products, dilute 500 times each time and water, and the effect is excellent.

The location for caring for roses should have sufficient light every day, and avoid keeping them in shade. If the roses have just been repotted, they can first be cared for in a ventilated and shaded place, and after 5~7 days slowly expose them to light, gradually increasing the intensity and duration of light. Secondly, when the temperature is too high, appropriate shading is needed, otherwise leaf burn problems are also likely to occur.

Alright, growing roses well is actually just about paying attention to these small problems. Once the small problems are solved, the roses will naturally bloom more! And choosing seedlings is really not the most important thing for veteran gardeners; technique is the most important.
