Yunlin Agriculture Advances into Southeast Asia Forum: Seizing the New Southbound Industrial Opportunity
To promote cooperation between Yunlin County's industry, government, and academia and Southeast Asia, the Yunlin County Government, together with National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, National Formosa University, and TransWorld University, co-hosted the "Industrial Opportunities of the New Southbound Policy - Yunlin Agriculture Advances into Southeast Asia" forum on the 19th. Deputy Magistrate Chang Huang-chen, Counselor Chen Kuan-hsiang of the Presidential Office's New Southbound Policy Office, National Yunlin University of Science and Technology President Hou Chun-kan, National Formosa University President Jueh Wen-yu, TransWorld University Chairperson Hsu Shu-min, Malaysian Datuk Ding Chong-cheng and Peng Shih-hao, as well as representatives from industry, government, and academia within the county, all attended to show their support for advancing the New Southbound opportunity.
Deputy Magistrate Chang Huang-chen stated that for Yunlin County to turn itself around, it must seize the early advantage in this wave of the New Southbound trend; therefore, Magistrate Li Chin-yung specifically visited Malaysia in early August, facilitating the signing of a "Halal Industry Development Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding" between the county's Industrial and Commercial Development and Investment Promotion Committee and the Selangor State International Halal Certification Center in Malaysia. Holding this forum is precisely to use this opportunity to promote the county's agriculture into Southeast Asia.
Deputy Magistrate Chang Huang-chen also said that in June of this year, the Presidential Office specially established the "New Southbound Policy Office," and to advance this policy, the Executive Yuan also allocated a budget of around 4 billion to establish the "Executive Yuan Office of Trade Negotiations." Therefore, Counselor Chen Kuan-hsiang of the Presidential Office was specially invited to give a keynote speech, hoping to help the guests present better understand the importance of this policy. In addition, the three universities in the county are also actively working to attract Southeast Asian students to study in Taiwan, hoping to use this opportunity to combine with industrial policy and cultivate more professional talent for the "New Southbound Policy."
National Yunlin University of Science and Technology President Hou, National Formosa University President Jueh, and TransWorld University Chairperson Hsu all expressed their hope that cooperation between all sectors and Southeast Asia will generate more sparks.
