Job fair for middle-aged, senior and PT workers at Banqiao Kunlun Park: match rate reaches 58%
"I came all the way from Keelung, I hope I can still make it!" The New Taipei City Employment Service Office held a themed job fair on the 22nd at the Kunlun Park Center in Banqiao District, and the venue drew a steady stream of visitors. Some people rushed over in the afternoon just to interview on the spot for their ideal job, and in just 4 hours the event drew more than 500 participants, with a preliminary match rate of 58%.
To help jobseekers in the New Taipei area find work quickly, the Employment Service Office specially organized the "Middle-Aged, Senior and Part-Time Job Fair," inviting 20 companies to release nearly 600 job openings. The localized and diverse job opportunities attracted many people to take part. Early in the morning, before the event had even begun, many middle-aged and senior jobseekers from nearby neighborhoods had already arrived to wait and apply. Among the jobseekers who took part in interviews, nearly 50% were middle-aged and senior jobseekers, and the preliminary match rate for middle-aged and senior applicants also reached 40%.
The Employment Service Office staff moving around the venue patiently helped people match with jobs. Mr. Chen is a highly educated middle-aged and senior jobseeker who originally worked in the Hsinchu Science Park, but because his health could not handle long working hours, the enormous pressure left his body unable to cope and he had to resign. He was also somewhat averse to working in the tech industry, and did not know which direction his career should take. He happened to see information about the job fair and came to take part. With the counseling and encouragement of the Employment Service Office staff, Mr. Chen gradually stopped rejecting any job opportunity and went to interviews whenever he had the chance. On site, he even successfully received a reporting notice from a company, and he repeatedly expressed his thanks to the Employment Service Office staff.
Wu Ren-yu, head of the Employment Service Office, said that middle-aged and senior jobseekers take longer to find work and easily set limits on themselves when job hunting, which causes them to miss many opportunities, so the event was specially held to increase the public's job opportunities.
