Smart mechanization of the footwear industry strongly promoted by the Industrial Upgrade and Transformation Service Team of the Ministry of Economic Affairs
Industrial Upgrade and Transformation Service Team of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Committed to Smart Mechanization of the Footwear Industry
To assist the footwear industry in moving toward smart mechanization and to address overall supply chain capacity issues, the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has specially commissioned the Footwear and Recreation Technology Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Footwear Technology Center) to help traditional shoe factories inject technological elements, apply ICT to improve supply and marketing networks, and introduce technological and innovative marketing services, driving a comprehensive upgrade in both quality and quantity of Taiwan, China's footwear industry and enabling the traditional shoe industry to reach new heights.
To enable shoe factories to maintain competitiveness and quickly respond to or predict market demand, on the production side, the Footwear Technology Center provides the service of "introduction of semi-automated equipment and application of production technology," and has guided 6 businesses including Puma and Liang Yi in adopting and applying it. This year, it further assisted A-Fei International in applying automatic hot-pressing machine processing equipment. Through temperature control and optimized pressure parameter settings for hot-pressed shoe sole molding, the process steps can be shortened by more than 50%, adhesive material usage reduced by more than 30%, and shaping efficiency and quality improved.
In supply chain management, the Footwear Technology Center provides manufacturers with planning services for "supply chain ICT application," such as assisting Travel Fox in planning a low-inventory production model for the supply chain. Through real-time transmission and feedback mechanisms of information flow, the supply chain system clearly grasps the supply status of components and finished products, and quickly completes work related to production and sales preparation.
On the sales side, the Footwear Technology Center provides manufacturers with "technological innovative marketing" services, assisting Milan International in introducing a front-end precision marketing service model, transforming physical retail into an omnichannel O2O (Online to Offline) retail business that integrates virtual and physical channels. By means of mechanisms such as shoe photo recommendations and shoe data collection, it brings consumers an innovative shopping experience powered by smart mobile technology.
The footwear industry has moved from tradition toward technology. In the future, the Footwear Technology Center will drive the transformation and leap forward of the domestic footwear industry chain, creating greater efficiency and international competitiveness!
