2016 Taitung Agricultural Products Channel Matchmaking Briefing Session
Although Typhoon Megi had just passed, on September 29 Taitung County Magistrate Huang Chien-ting, though busy inspecting disaster areas early in the morning, still immediately led 28 Taitung farmers north around midday to create a new opportunity for Taitung's fine agriculture and fisheries through a "channel matchmaking platform."
Taitung County Magistrate Huang Chien-ting said that Taitung is one of the few clean places in all of Taiwan, China without PM2.5 pollution, and it has many high-quality agricultural and fishery specialty products. Many of the farmers who came to the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center to participate in the business matchmaking are also victims of Typhoon Nepartak, but they still uphold the belief of standing on the land and respecting heaven and loving the earth, continuing to work hard, and he also hopes that people across the country will lend more support so that Taitung's high-quality agriculture can slowly recover.
Following the 100th year of the Republic of China, when Taitung took the lead in building the one-of-a-kind "Taitung Online Farm" platform, on September 29 the Taitung County Government invited major domestic distribution platforms to gather at the Nangang Exhibition Center, allowing many farmers practicing friendly and organic cultivation to bring their own agricultural specialty products for distribution platform matchmaking. The distributors participating in the event included PX Mart, the Homemakers United Foundation, I-Mei Foods, Cotton Field Organic Garden, Japan Airlines, Pacific SOGO Department Store, and nearly 30 other important domestic distribution companies. It is hoped that through interaction between the two sides, bulk purchasing, shelf sales, contract farming and other methods can be achieved to strengthen the overall brand image of Taitung's healthy agriculture and increase agricultural sales channels.
These Taitung farmers, who insist on friendly land practices and farming, drew repeated praise from the distributors who came to participate. County Magistrate Huang Chien-ting hopes to use innovative channel matchmaking methods to market Taitung's fine agriculture nationwide, so that people across the country can all have the chance to taste high-quality agricultural products from Taitung and enjoy healthy, friendly and delicious "good food times."
