How to control estrus in female donkeys

Donkeys are seasonally polyestrous animals. Estrus begins from March to April, with April to June being the peak estrus season. In July to August, during the extreme heat, it weakens. The estrus period is relatively long, stopping in late autumn when the anestrus period begins.

Artificial induction methods can also be used, that is, during the anestrus period of the female donkey, using exogenous hormones (such as gonadotropins) or other substances or stimulation of environmental conditions to induce estrus in the female donkey. Under normal circumstances, the female donkey can be given intramuscular injections of gonadotropins or chorionic gonadotropin, cloprostenol, etc., to control estrus in the female donkey, with good results.

The estrus period of the female donkey lasts 7 to 14 days, and in some cases 4 to 7 days.

If the first estrus cycle does not result in pregnancy, the female donkey will generally continue to come into estrus after an interval of 22 to 25 days, and mating again can result in conception.
