How to choose a site for an ecological healthy pig breeding farm
1. Site selection:
The site shall comply with the local overall land use plan and urban-rural development plan, and must not be built in designated prohibited breeding areas. It shall be more than 1000 m from animal slaughter and processing sites and markets for animals and animal products; more than 1500 m from breeding livestock and poultry farms; no less than 500 m from other animal feeding farms (breeding communities); more than 3000 m from animal isolation sites and harmless treatment sites; and more than 500 m from densely populated areas such as urban residential areas, cultural, educational and scientific research areas, as well as major traffic arteries such as highways and railways. The site should have high, dry terrain, abundant sunlight, good ventilation and drainage, solid and level soil, sufficient water sources, reliable and convenient water and electricity supply, and good water quality that complies with the provisions of GB-5749. When building a farm in hilly or mountainous areas, sunny slopes and gentle slopes should be selected as far as possible, with a slope not exceeding 20°. Around the farm there should be farmland, orchards, vegetable gardens and flower plantations capable of absorbing livestock and poultry manure on site, or conditions for sewage discharge.
2. Farm layout:
The overall layout of the farm shall conform to the production process and animal epidemic prevention requirements, and the office and living area, production area and auxiliary supporting area shall be reasonably arranged according to function. The office and living area shall be located upwind of the prevailing wind direction throughout the year and on higher terrain; the production area shall be located downwind or crosswind of the office and living area according to the prevailing summer wind direction; and the auxiliary supporting area shall be built downwind of the prevailing wind direction throughout the year and on lower terrain. The boundaries between the areas shall be clear, with convenient connections, separated by walls, greenbelts and the like. Within the production area, clean paths and contaminated paths shall be strictly separated, and personnel, livestock and poultry, and articles shall follow a single flow direction. Walls and epidemic prevention ditches shall be built around the farm, and the main entrance and exit shall be equipped with a duty room, disinfection pool, vehicle disinfection channel and the like.
